Kenya Premier League Champions Gor Mahia started their quest to defend their title well with a 2-0 win over Nairobi City Stars in a match played on Feb   20th Thursday at the city stadium.

The Ugandan Duo of Dan Sserenkuma and Geoffrey Kizito gave K’Ogalo all three points in front of a partisan crowd that flocked the stadium.

Violence erupted outside the stadium as fans wanted to invade as there were no tickets available around prompting police to fire teargas in a bid to control an enraged crowd that tried to force its way into the stadium with the stewards finally letting the fans in.

Sserunkuma opened the scoring on nine minutes with a header and in the second half Kizito made it 2-0 with a fierce shot on 67 minutes to seal the points for Gor.

The next match for Kogallo will be against Mathare United at Machakos’ Kenyatta Stadium on Sunday thereafter shift their focus to their looming showdown with Tunisian club Esperance in the first leg first round of the African Champions League.
