e-sir1In four days we will be marking the 11th year anniversary of what was and would have been a true legend in the Kenyan music industry. He brought you mosmos, bomba train,si usare, leo ni leo, kamata, jo, and hamnitishi a song that most say was like he knew he was dying when he wrote it, it’s none other than E-Sir.

E-Sir (Issah Mmari)had taken over the Kenyan music industry with a storm especially with his captivating swahili rhymes, making a name for himself as south C’s finest. He died through a tragic road accident on the 16th March 2013 and left a void that no one will ever fill in the Kenyan music industry.

Every year on his anniversary the Kenyan Music fraternity and his fans have been commemorating his death but this year the celebration is going to be done in a special way.

Speaking to a local newspaper, Big Pin who was among his closest friend said

“Over the years, we have accustomed ourselves with just gathering at E-Sir’s graveyard, praying and presenting some flowers. But this year, we want it to be different. We are planning a show that will bring many local artistes together, who will perform as a tribute to E-Sir. They will include all the artistes who ever recorded a song with him and any other artiste who has ever recorded a song in his memory. It will be an epic night,”

He added “E-Sir remains one of the greatest rap artistes Kenya has ever produced and that’s why we celebrate him. To me, he was like a brother. We grew up together and when he left, I felt the void. We just want to keep his memory alive.”

Now you know the place to be for E-Sir’s 11th anniversary is the Carnivore on the 2nd day of April.
