The government has set aside 34billion shillings towards upgrading and improving health facilities countrywide.
Health cabinet secretary James Macharia says this is meant to cub maternal mortality which accounts for more than 50% of Kenya’s death.
Speaking during the launch of a report on Maternal and child healthcare, Macharia disclosed that health facilities will soon be established in slums to aid easy access to health care as well equip 34 hospitals countrywide.
On his part Kenya Medical research institute-KEMRI Chief of Health and Demographic Surveillance System Frank Odhiambo blamed the harsh economic times for lack of access to health care by many Kenyans.
