Property of unknown value was burnt down when fire broke out in Kawangware market on Sunday.
The fire which started in the afternoon is said to have been caused by an electrical fault from a transformer in the area.
Eye Witness Margaret Wanjiru told Ghetto Radio News that some individuals took advantage of the situation and started looting from the market.
She says a stampede later ensued though there were no casualties reported in the fire that was spreading rapidly.
Both the police, fire brigade and medical personnel arrived moments later to contain the fire with investigations ongoing.
