City Cruise Overcome United as Arsenal held

manchester derbyManchester city proved to the strongest side when it beat Manchester united 3-0 at old Trafford on Tuesday to move to the second place on the table with two games in hand.

The Manchester derby lived to its expectation with city dominating the game, and just 43 seconds into the game Edin Dzeko his first goal to put city in the lead.

United’s defender Rafael blocked David Silva’s run into the box but Samir Nasri hit the post and Dzeko followed up to sidefoot in the rebound.

Dzeko then added his second goal in the 56th minute after dropping Rio Ferdinand to volley in Nasri’s corner.

Yaya Toure who scored a hat trick in the last game was on target again finishing off Manchester united in the 90th minute to make it 3-0 adding more misery on united who have been struggling to stay afloat since the departure of Ferguson.

This result left United 11 points off the top four piling pressure on them to win the champions league this season for the to play next season’s most coveted tournament in Europe but before that they have to overcome Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich in the quarterfinals..

In the other match, arsenals chances of winning this season’s league were for another time handed a major blow after Flamini’s second half own goal made them settle for a 2-2 draw with Swansea at emirates stadium

Swansea took the lead in the 11 minute courtesy of Wilfried Bony’s headerbut two goals in as many minutes midway through the second half turned the match on its head.

Kieran Gibbs provided the cross from which Lukas Podolski’s volley drew Arsenal level in the 73rd minute and Olivier Giroud made it two after a nice run by Podolski to give the gunners the lead.

Everton continued their push for European football next season with a 3-0 win away to Newcastle as the Toffees leapfrogged Tottenham into fifth spot and closed to within six points of fourth-placed Arsenal with a game in hand.

Everton’s efforts were awarded in the 22nd when Ross Barkley ran unchallenged from inside his own half and into the Newcastle box before beating Fabricio Coloccini and blasting the ball into the top corner.

Romelu Lukaku made it 2-0 from close range in the 52nd minute before Leon Osman sealed the victory three minutes from time after good build-up work by Deulofeu and Lukaku.
