Police arrest 400 people in the ongoing Eastleigh operation

police suspectPolice arrested a couple early Wednesday morning in an operation carried out in Eastleigh and recovered two hand grenades from them.

This follows a tip off that saw them raid the couple’s house around one  am and recovered grenades stashed in a box in their sitting room.

According to police the 60 year old man has been supplying the explosives to youths for attacks in the city and Mombasa.

Nairobi police boss Benson Kibue said 400 people were arrested Tuesday night in addition to the 657 arrested on Monday night in the ongoing operation in the area.

Interior Cabinet Secretary Joseph Ole Lenku, earlier stated that the operation will continue until the suspects are arrested.

However no arrest has been made so far in connection with the terror attacks on Monday night that killed six people and injured more than 30 others.

Police said on Wednesday  that six victims of the Monday blast are still admitted in hospital.
