Police on Saturday heightened security operation in Nairobi’s Eastleigh estate where about 500 suspects were nabbed in an on-going operation that seeks to weed out criminals and persons who are in the country illegally.
The door-to door operation was led Nairobi county deputy police commander Moses Ombati.
The Inspector General of Police David Kimaiyo Saturday said that Operation Usalama Watch is moving with speed to implement the president’s directive to the letter further warning the Criminals and terrorists that they will not have a place in this country advised them to surrender.
The officers involved in the operation were sourced from Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) the General Service Unit (GSU)and the Administration Police and their regular counterparts.
Most suspects so far apprehended did not posses legal identification documents and were detained in police stations.
