Former president Mwai Kibaki
The intergovernmental authority on development IGAD will present former President Mwai Kibaki with a medal in recognition of his distinguished contribution to regional economic integration, peace, security and development in the Horn of Africa.
Kibaki will receive a 50 page pictorial book showcasing his legacy and the period he served as the chairman of IGAD.
IGAD executive secretary ambassodor Mahboub Maalim said the book and the medal will demonstrate the gratitutude of the people of IGAD member states.
Maalim added that they would like to appreciate the critical role Kibaki played like the signing of the comprehensive peace agreement for Sudan that led to the independence of South Sudan and his contribution to the stability and prosperity of the region.
