Security has been heightened in various mosques across the country as Muslims mark the holy month of Ramadhan.

Police say this is to enable Muslims conduct their prayers which extend late into the night peacefully and also avert possible Al Shabaab attacks.

Police spokesman Charles Owino says that a section of political and religious leaders had requested that security be improved as the Muslims conduct their prayers.

Al Shabaab has a history of striking during Ramadhan and emulating global jihadist groups’ modes of attack.

In June 2014, at least 150 lives were lost when Al Shabaab fighters infiltrated the country and conducted attacks in villages within Lamu and Tana Rive Counties.

Al shabaab has also vowed to avenge the over 50 Muslim faithfuls who were killed in the Christchurch mosque white supremacist attacks in New Zealand last month.

Tanzanian socialite and Businesswoman Hamisa Mobetto may be facing financial challenges which have forced her to move out of her mansion in Dar es salaam.

However just days after she came out to defend Diamond saying he is a good dad, turns out he has not been paying rent for the mansion.

Hamisa’s arch nemesis Zari Hassan god wind of the news doing rounds and hit back cheekily at the petite lass

According to Zari, Hamisa wasn’t smart enough to clean Daimond’s  wallet during their short fling.

“Looks like p**sy wasn’t all that after all” wrote Zari

It is not clear whether Hamisa is indeed facing some financial constraints or whether she just moved out of the house.

Controversial singer Willy Paul was trending at number one on twitter for the better part of Monday.

This was after videos of the singer dancing erotically with ladies at a recent function surfaced online.

Chairman of the Matatu  Owners Association Mr. Simon Kimutai has urged members of the public not to keep quiet when they witness any corrupt deal between matatu operation and the traffic police.

Kimutai has urged the public to use social media platforms to name and shame those perpetrating corruption.

According to kimutai the culture of ‘toakitukidigo’ has become a culture on Kenyan, as compared to adherence to the rule of law.

He was speaking after a consultative forum with the Leaders of Multisectorial Initiative Against Corruption.

The forum leaders urged all road users and vehicle owners to practice self regulation and ensure that their vehicles meet all legal requirements and familiarize themselves with the traffic act and all other guidelines that regulate the transport sector.

They said this in itself will greatly reduce instances of corruption cases on the roads.

“We must see beyond now and realize that a corrupt free transpot sector results in more income for investors, more jobs for our youths and a greater kenya for us,”said Kimutai

Gor Mahia’s midfield maestro, Francis Kahata led Kits for Africa initiative at the Ruiru stadium, distributing football wear donated by SportPesa’s partner clubs in Europe to his homebase.

Kahata who was raised in Ruiru lauded the initiative adding that support for training gear will go a long way in boosting the morale of budding footballers who benefit from these donations.

“I appreciate Kits for Africa administrators for sharing the donations in Ruiru. I remember playing with no boots and sometime bare-chested as I was growing up here.

This is a good way to motivate the young talents and I hope they will work hard in return,” said Kahata, who was recently named to the Kenyan National Football team for AFCON.

The Kits for Africa donations were distributed to 30 teams from Ruiru, 20 from Thika and 10 from Dandora.

The initiative launched three years ago encourages football players and fans to donate their old kit to sports-mad communities across Africa.

“Football in the neighborhood is faced by a lot of challenges. Some players give up mainly because they lack proper gear and opt to do other things instead,” added Posta Rangers player Simon Mbugua who also grew up in the same neighbourhood as Kahata.

Kahata used the event to drum up support for his club Gor Mahia ahead of Sunday’s Mashemeji Derby.

He called on the Ruiru football fans to show up in large numbers to the match which will be held at the Moi International Sports Centre, Kasarani from 4.15pm.

Earlier in the day, Coach William Muluya of Kariobangi Sharks helped distribute the Kits for Africa donations in Dandora.

He said the initiative is a good way of nurtuting football talent from the early stages within the local neighborhoods and would help keep the youngsters focused.

Kits for Africa is part of SportPesa’s commitment to building and developing grassroots football. Since the company’s inception in 2014, SportPesa has quickly established itself as a community-focused organization and this programme is part of its pledge to transforming lives.
