Gengetone artistes have continually been bashed for using vulgar language in their music.

Earlier this year, there was a debate on social media surrounding the new genre of music with many people arguing that gengetone will die a fast death.

Juacali, on his part has always supported the youngsters behind Gengetone arguing that they have brought originality to Kenyan music.

Speaking at a recent interview3, Juacali said he is proud that the youth are embracing their own path.

Juacali has always expressed that he cannot bash gengetone artistes because their content has been cut from Genge music something he was the pioneer of.

“Lazima watu waunderstand kitu moja, mimi kama msanii especially nlianzisha hii gegnge music, imagine kama mimi ningeturn around nianze kukashifu hawa vijana ingekuwa ni wrong sana. For me ilikuwa humbling sana wao kuita mziki wao gengetone nikama walikuawanatry kuiambia watu mahali influence imetoka” he said

At a recent interview, Juacali told off critics bashing gengetone not to expect them to sing about problems in the society.

“Usiexpect msanii mdogo aanze kuimba kuhusu NHIF ama sukari imepanda. Bado wako home. Hii kitu lazima imove natural, polepole tu. The more wataendelea kugrow the more content itachange. Kina sailors wameanza so with time itachange” he said

Halisi the Band is a Kenyan afro pop boy band that has pelted tunes that are able to captivate any listening ear.

With their latest release ‘Tuma Pesa’ dominating the airwaves, Halisi the Band shared the inspiration behind the song.

Speaking to Ghetto Radio Chit Chat, the band made up of Galvin, Lucky and Elly revealed that they once fell victim to conniving promoters.

“We once did a show and the promoter disappeared with our money. It took a lot of back and forth and ignored calls when we tried to follow up the matter till eventually we decided to translate the matter into a song.” They said

Inspired to do original and authentic Kenyan sounds, the Band settled on the name Halisi which translates to authentic as a way to promote the smooth and entertaining songs this side of the East.

Despite being in the game for six years, the band maintains that they are not signed under any record label as a way to protect their brand.

“Record labels in the country have been exploiting artistes using especially upcoming artistes as a cash cow. so..as a way to protect ourselves and earn from our craft, we decided to manage ourselves.” Said Galvin

The band however maintains that they may give it a thought to sign with a record label but for now they are happy managing themselves.

The group rocked airwaves for the better part of 2019 with their hit song ‘Avocado’ and has vowed that 2020 will be no different.

A public school in Nairobi’s Shauri Moyo area is on the spot for demanding Ksh. 8,000 from parents who want to admit their children in the school.

This is despite the government allocating Ksh.55.4 Billion shillings for Free Primary education.

Irene Karunda says Head teacher of Heshima Primary School says she was sent back home with her two children for failing to produce the Ksh. 8,000 that the principal demanded.

Karunda says that the head teacher blatantly told her that he could not admit her two children if she did not have the money.

She says that she was forced to take her children to the next public school where they were admitted for free.

According to Karunda, the Principal at Heshima Primary School not only demanded money from her but also told her to buy school uniforms at a specific shop that she suspects belongs to the head teacher.

Football Kenya Federation President Nick Mwendwa has maintained that the repeat elections will be held as passed despite pending court cases.

Speaking at the Special General Meeting at a Nairobi Hotel Mwendwa said that the elections which have been set for March will proceed because they had followed the due process as stipulated in last year’s judgment.

Sports Dispute Tribunal (SDT) rendered the FKF elections null and void, a move that forced Mwendwa to go back to the drawing board.

The Tribunal ordered for fresh elections saying there was no sufficient public participation in the FKF Electoral code.

In the meeting held today and attended by delegates from the 47 Counties members passed and adopted the Electoral Code.

Gor Mahia and AFC Leopards officials abstained but it sailed through after garnering 68 votes.

The names of the newly constituted election board comprising of five personalities were also passed.

the Members include Kentice Tikolo, Patrick Mathew Onyango, Ali Hassan Kauleni, Alfred Ndinya, and Samuel Karanja.

The board members will meet on Monday to decide on its leadership, before deciding on the new date of elections.

Western Stima Coach Babu scoops second Fidelity Insurance gong

Western Stima tactician Salim Babu has picked his second Fidelity Insurance Coach of the Month Award this season after beating Tusker Football Club tactician Robert Matano for the December gong.

Both coaches won three games and drew once in the month of December but Babu’s goal haul propped him above Matano.

Stima scored ten goals and conceded four goals playing against Nzoia Sugar, Zoo, Chemelil Sugar and Sofapaka while Tusker scored half what Stima managed while conceding just two.

The Stima coach pocketed Sh75000 courtesy of the event sponsors Fidelity Insurance and becomes the third tactician to win more than two of the monthly gongs since its inception five years ago.

“I’m glad this is happening again this season and I want to thank my family and teams for enabling me win this award. December was very competitive and I must say we really did our best to win the games that we played,” Babu said during his coronation at Moi stadium, Kisumu

Babu feels frustrated that Stima is not in the top five clubs of Kenyan Premier League and will not celebrate his monthly awards if his side remains rooted in mid table.

“We are trying hard to make the entire team develop and compete for the league trophy. We had a good pre season training and started the season really well but results have not been as consistent,” he added

Babu won the first the first award of the 2019/2020 season and hopes the December performance will give Stima a shot in the arm to finish the season with a flourish. “We will take our chances in the remaining games and finish in the best position possible. We still have a good team and just need to keep our focus for the remaining games,” the former Kenyan international defender said

Seven underage children were today morning rescued from crime by children officers in Kibra’s mashimoni area.

Child protection officer Humphrey Lando says the seven are school pupils attending Good News Academy.

Lando says that the various criminal activities the children were rescued from include burglary, and drug peddling.

“We have rescued them from various criminal offences. One was being used by a neighbour to buy bhang. The guy would give him Ksh. 1,000 send him to get bhang and then harass him by telling him not to tell anyone,” said Lando.

“The other one who is only in class three,  is being used by gangs to break into people’s houses and then aid them in stealing,” he stated.

Wilson Mooga, a parent of one of the children who were rescued admitted to laxity of parents in monitoring their children as a leading factor that has contributed to crime amongst children.

“My 11 year old son would leave home but would not get to school, he has done this for quite some time without me noticing. That is why i had to seek the services of Lando to help me restore his behaviour,” stated Mooga.

Lando says the seven children are currently helping them with investigations.
