As Kenyans continued to troop in large numbers inside Parliament to view Retired President Daniel Toroitich arap Moi’s body, one man mesmerized other Kenyans by turning up with a live Jogoo.

Ronald Wanyonyi traveled overnight from Trans Nzoia County to say goodbye to Moi with his Jogoo in hand.

Draped in a Kenyan flag branded headscarf Wanyonyi told Ghetto radio News that the jogoo was a symbol of remembrance of how Moi carried him when he was three years when he had visited Trans Nzoi County.

“Moi carried me when he came to Trans Nzoia when i was three years and so because i cannot carry him, i have opted to carry this Jogoo as a sign of respect and remembrance of the good deed he did for me,” said Wanyonyi.

Wanyonyi says he is an ardent Kanu supporter rode to Nairobi overnight in a lift.

Other Kenyans who were on the queue also woke up as early as 5 am to pay their last tribute to Mzee Moi, today being the last day for the public to view the body.

How Papa Dennis battled Pressure and Depression-Girlfriend speaks

Fallen gospel singer Dennis Mwangi alias Papa Dennis had been living on the low months before his death.

According the singer’s friends the singer’s lavish life had taken a massive landslide plunging him into sudden poverty.

It is alleged that he hit rock bottom after leaving the Maliza umaskini record label owned by business mogul Sadat Muhindi sometime in 2019.

According to fellow gospel artiste Daddy Owen, Dennis had battled depression for some time.

“This industry we are in can end up changing who you are because at some point, it pushes you to be who you are not. You start doing things to satisfy your fans. Papa started struggling after leaving Maliza Umaskini, which left him depressed. In most cases, we hear stories of people who were good before fame, but when they gained the stardom status, they became different people. What I know is that people are different. Some people cannot stand the pressure. Very few people can understand, handle and come out of the pressure strong.” said Owen

According to close sources, his girlfriend Martha Wanjer, a former actress,  had also called friends on several occasions on how the singer had been complaining of depression.

The actress also recently revealed that she spoke to the artiste on the fateful day.

“We talk every day and I communicated with Papa even in that fateful night and I remember him telling me he was seeing things and people wanting to kill him. He always came through in so many ways and wanted me to be great. Papa was a nice person and it is still haunting me that I did not give him the chance to open up to me on what was troubling him. I never took him seriously when he said we needed to meet.” she said

Upcoming artiste Red Pen who was Dennis’ former roommate also revealed that the singer could not even afford to buy food.

“I used to live with Papa Dennis in the same house. We Stayed in Komarock for about two years before I moved out, Papa Dennis was facing several problems. He had difficulties paying rent for the house he was living in with his twin brother. Every time he called me in recent times, he would ask for money to go buy food.” he said

Mesut Ozil and Alexandre Lacazette have both backed Mikel Arteta’s tactical changes at Arsenal despite having only won three games since he took over.

Arteta took over from interim head coach Freddie Ljungberg in December and Arsenal are tenth in the Premier League after his first seven games in charge.

While the results have not improved significantly, Ozil and Lacazette feel the team has united under Arteta’s tactical philosophy.

Ozil, talking at Arsenal’s Dubai warm-weather training camp, said: “As a team, we are much happier and everyone wants to give everything for this club.

“Especially tactically we improve a lot and I hope in the future we will be more successful.”

Lacazette, who has not scored since Arteta took charge, echoed Ozil’s view on the coach and team morale.

Nairobi County Governor Mike Sonko was on Tuesday made to sit behind other governors at the dais during the memorial service of retired President Daniel Toroitich Arap Moi.

This is despite the Nairobi County Government issuing free copies of the Standard Newspaper to mourners at the Nyayo National Stadium.

Nyoyo being placed behind Governors Hassan Joho, Amason Kingi and Alfred Mutua seems to be a breach of protocol.

The copies of the Standard Newspaper were put on chairs at the dais and where the General Public was set to sit.

This is also despite the event happening in a county that he governs.

Moi’s body arrived at the Nyayo National Stadium at around 10.30 am. The body was first taken to State House before it was escorted to Nyayo Stadium by a military entourage.

How “Moi” Plunged Stadium Into Darkness To Hand Harambee Stars A Win

By Polosa

Former Harambee Stars and Gor Mahia Captain Austin Oduor has given details of how the late Retired President Moi was frustrated when Harambee Stars was almost beaten by Malawi in 1987 during the All African Games hosted in Kenya.

Oduor exclusively told Ghetto Radio Sports that despite being one goal down, Malawi was outplaying Harambee Stars in all departments.

Oduor stated that before the game started, Moi had addressed them in the dressing room and told them that they had to win the game.

With Malawi leading 1-0 and pressing hard for another goal, the stadium was plunged into darkness following power failure, leaving the referee with no alternative but to call off the clash amid protests by the Malawians who claimed there was foul play to save the home team.

Many thought the same as the Games organizers immediately ordered the teams to meet again in a replay the next day where Kenya won via penalty shootout beating the unlucky Malawi 1-0 to stride into the final against Egypt on the penultimate day of the Games.

Oduor said that the late head of state loved sports and was motivator who attended most of their international assignments for the National team and Club.

“Moi was a very passionate sports fan who attended most of our matches in the National team and Club Gor Mahia wherever he had time, “he said.

Oduor who scored the winning penalty confirmed that that day was not good for the National team terming the blackout as a blessing in disguise.

“People speculated that the head of state was responsible for the blackout something that we have not confirmed but he sent his people to speak to us after the match a situation that motivated the team,” he added while laughing off the incident.

The stars went on to lose in the finals of the games, thanks to a controversial goal netted from a suspiciously offside position.

But the question still remains did the head of state really tamper with the lights as alleged by Malawi and many Kenyans back then?

Oduor has Eulogized President Moi, describing him as a man who loved sports and supported the team during his tenure as the President.

Nairobi Governor Mike Mbuvi Sonko on Wednesday faced humiliation after he was denied entry into the dais at the funeral service of Retired President Daniel arap Moi in Kabarak.

Sonko was blocked by orderlies after he reportedly arrived after President Uhuru Kenyatta and the family of Mzee Moi.

Moi High School Kabarak students who were already seated at the dais watched in awe as security personnel blocked Sonko stopping him from accessing the dais.

This is not the first time that the governor has been shamed in front of the public at Moi’s funeral.

During the public viewing at parliament, Sonko was ejected from parliament premises when he wanted to address the media after viewing the body.

His Facebook Live session was also interrupted by military orderlies who were in charge of the whole process.

Yesterday at the Nyayo National Stadium, the governor was also made to sit a few rows behind other governors despite him being the hosting governor of the event.
