East Pokot has been ranked as the worst performing District in terms of education in the whole of East Africa.
A study conducted by Uwezo a Non Governmental Organization revealed that 60 per cent of eligible children in East Pokot are not going to school.
Uwezo Chief Executive Officer John Mugo stated that children aged between 10 – 16 years can neither read a simple class two English or Swahili story.
According to Mugo the challenge majorly affecting East Pokot is the unequal distribution of resources.
The study also ranked Westlands, Kikuyu and Ruiru as the top three Districts in terms learning.
