University of Nairobi Lecturers  have now given the government a three month notice beginning today to ensure  current vice chancellor professor Peter Mbithi leaves the institution failure to which they will forcefully kick him out of the office.

Led by University Academic Staff Union Secretary General Union  Branch George Omondi the lecturers say that Mbithi has run down UoN and that he does not deserve another five year term at the helm of the university.

They are accusing him of suspending  workers without due process and  compelling  them to report to the institution three times  a week.

They have also taken issues with how UoN conducts their  statutory deductions of  NHIF, NSSF, bank loans and Pension without remitting the same to the relevant institutions.

‘‘We want to ask the government to move with speed  and get rid of professor Mbithi, he is mistreating workers. UoN has lost his former glory. Workers are suffering in the hands of Mbithi I mean nothing is going on at UoN.’’ He lamented.

They have also accused him of misappropriating  university funds and resources.

According to them the VC  has assigned himself  seven official vehicles that drives him in a convoy.

Meanwhile the group is expected to meet education cabinet secretary professor George Magoha  next week to front the same.

Professor Mbithi is seeking another term in office and he took over from Magoha who served for a complete term of ten  years.

A group of former Mathare footballers has raised Ksh. 100,000 in aid of their colleague suffering from Alcohol addiction.

Philip Mwangi popularly known as Kapelo has been suffering from alcohol addiction for more than 10 years.

Kapelo who is a father of two stopped playing football at the age of 25 years after he was dropped from Mathare youth fC because of age.

He has played alongside international star Arnold Origi in Norway.

He says that he lost hope after he was dropped from Mathare youth and later locked out of his house and that’s when depression hit him and he started drinking.

“I used to sleep at Pequeninos social Hall and later my wife left me with two children it was depression all over.”

His former colleagues under the umbrella Mathare legends has raised over Ksh. 100,000 to fly Kapelo to Qatar for work, a move to try and help him reform after going through several rehabilitation programs.

Speaking to Ghetto radio sports Chairman of Mathare youth legends Peter Chege aka Shei who also played for mathare youth FC says that most of the players who were dropped from Mathare youths became miserable and some of them ended up in crime and drug abuse.

Shei says that Mathare Legends was started after former player Harry Kewel passed on due to alcohol abuse.

“We thought instead of us meeting every time there is a calamity lets form a group that will try to help our friends before calamity strikes.” He adds.

Kapelo is now ready to fly to Qatar for work to reform and detach himself from alcohol abuse and says that the biggest challenge he had was the surrounding area in Mathare that influence any one who is idle to engage in crime and alcohol abuse.

The Digital Campaign dubbed unstoppable stories is inviting Kenyans to share unique stories highlighting the achievements of children aged between six to 10 years.

The campaign will run from 28th May 2019.

One week after the call for submission a panel of judges will review the entries and shortlisted participants will be notified following public voting that will be availed on Key Social media platforms.

Over 3 Million banned plastic bags were on Wednesday nabbed by police in Kamukunji area.

More than 2,000 expired diapers  were nabbed alongside the plastic bags.

Police on Wednesday nabbed over 3 million pieces of banned plastic bags and another 2,131 of expired diapers in Kamukunji.

The merchandise owner owner John Wachira Wang’ondu was arrested.

The  raid was conducted by DCI officers in conjunction with NEMA officers.

The Crackdown on non woven carrier bags by the National Environmental Management Authority (NEMA) began on April 1 this year.

Police in Pangani have arrested a man in possession with narcotics.

The 34 year old Mathias Kangoti Murayi was arrested on Wednesday evening by Directorate of Criminal Investigations Officers.

Some of the drugs he was found carrying include, Cocaine, Heroin and Methcathinone concealed in an icebox.

The suspects are currently in police custody as investigations continue.

Police have launched a man hunt for a lady who did not present herself in court after she was caught having sex in broad daylight at Uhuru Park with a man over the weekend.

Joyce Wanjiku’s accomplice Kanara Maina was however arraigned and charged in court on Wednesday.

Maina was slapped with a Ksh. 1,500 fine or serve a one month jail term for engaging in the act.

Chief Magistrate Roseline Ong’ayo said having sex at the park was illegal and against the county by-laws.

He was warned against repeating the offence.

Political Activist and lawyer Miguna Miguna yesterday came up with fresh details of the events that led to the swearing in of Opposition Leader Raila Odinga.

Miguna who was hosted by Jeff Koinange on Citizen TV stated how many leaders behind the swearing in Plan developed fear and chickened out of the plan in the last minutes.

According to Miguna, many items they had prepared for the swearing in were not brought forth at Uhuru Park on the material day including a pen that Jimmy Wanjigi had bought worth Ksh. 250,000.

“The pen that Jimmy Wanjigi had bought for the occasion allegedly costing 2,500 dollars was also missing, which means they were not ready for it,” said Miguna.

According to Miguna, Raila also got scared at the last minute and only showed up at the venue over fear of losing trust in his supporters.

“They came to the park and did not bring the chair, the oath, the platform, the emblem. In fact, had I not brought the oath, the seal, pen and emblem, he would not have been sworn in. A Bible I had used to swear him in at Karen was missing,” said Miguna.

He further spoke on his deportation saying that both President Uhuru Kenyatta and Raila feared that he was a threat to them.

“I am a threat to both Raila Odinga and Uhuru Kenyatta because, since Raila did not make it to the presidency in 2017, he would have been forced to make me the president being the king maker that he is,” he stated.

Kibera  Sheikh  Sulueiman Hussein who was arrested over defilement of a 13 year old child has been  denied bailed by the court.

This is even as the witnesses in the case claim that they are being threatened.

Suleiman was arraigned before Magistrate Ms. Kang’atwa at the Milimani courts.

Kangatwa ordered that the suspect be detained for another 14 days at the Industrial Prison.

The complainants Nubians rights Forum through their  chairman Shaffie Hussein say that they are optimistic that the girl will get justice at last saying the are much satisfied with how the court is handling the matter.

‘‘We are happy so far and we want to ask our court to ensure that justice  prevails  no matter the strength and influence of the suspect,’’ he added.

They have on the other hand requested the court to protect the witnesses claiming that they are being intimidated by family members of  the suspect.

‘‘They are intimidating the suspects and eve trying to bribe them let this come to attention of the courts..because its unlawful to intimidate any witness.’’ He said.

The defiled girl has been taken to Kabete Children Home where he is currently receiving counselling and medication.

Sheikh and his family resides in Makina where the suspect has been  teaching Madrassa classes for quite sometime.

Controversial pastor James Ng’ang’a has issued a stern warning to the bishops of his church for allegedly disrespecting his wife.

Ng’ang’a who was recorded in a video that has gone viral is heard insulting the bishops of his church, calling them takataka.

In the video, an angry Ng’ang’a is seen standing in front of his congregation calling out the Bishops for disrespecting his wife and further threating to close down their churches which he described as viosks.

Shalom Hospital is once again on the spot after a man shared how the hospital doctors left a bandage in his wife’s uterus after a caeserian surgery conducted at the hospital in February.

The man by the name Moses narrated how his wife developed complications two weeks after delivery at the hospital.

according to Moses, his wife experienced severe pains and vomit and had to be rushed back to Shallom Hospital at night.

“I took her back to the hospital at night, first aid was done and he was discharged same night…After two days pains came back  again back to shallom..i pleaded with the medic by the name Sam at the emergency section that night to admit her for some days for them to monitor her healing process, he was arrogant and refused ” narrated Moses.

But persistence from Moses prompted the medicas to conduct further tests which revealed that the lady was suffering from H-Pylori hence the severe pains in the abdomen.

She was given a dose but the pains came back a few days later.

“After 4 days remember ako kwa doz ya hpyloric n painkillers…pains came back took her to KNH n she was admited for 4 days but the tests showed nothing hence no solution was found,” he further narrated.

At KNH a minor surgery was done to remove some puss that had formed in the wounds. She was later discharged and Moses took the wife to the rural area for a breath of fresh air only for the pain to return after two weeks.

She was then rushed at a local hospital where a scan and an x ray conducted revealed that there was something inside the stomach.

“She was scheduled for a surgery after 2 days n remember the minor surgery to remove puss was 2 weeks old….a major surgery was done n a large piece of bandage was removed it had damage her intestines,” he stated.

Shalom Hospital had been closed following the medical scandals that have happened at the hospital, the latest one being the death of an eight month old baby.

The hospital was however opened this week under unclear circumstances.

Nairobi Women Representative Esther Passaris has faced an online backlash after she shared a live video of her inspecting the fabrication of handcarts popularly known as mkokoteni meant for the youth.

The mkokoteni, according to Passaris will be distributed to youth groups across the county.

In the Twitter Video Passaris is seen talking to the fabricators telling them how they should make the mkokotenis look better for use by the youth who will get them.

A section of netizens are however unhappy with passaris saying that no youth should be pulling a mkokoteni in this century like a mule.

Benji Ndolo a political analyst has described the hustle inhuman and labor reserved for convicts.

Others blasted her for not using her business wit to open business enterprises for the jobless graduates and instead reducing them to handcart drivers.

“Av said it before and those who know me know I’m vocal. No one should be pulling a mkokoteni in the 21ST CENTURY like a mule. It is inhuman, it is labor the kind of which is reserved for Robben Island life term convicts. That young leaders have no eyes or heart really HURTS,” said Benji Ndolo.

“Mama, umeamua tuvurutee tuu mikokoteni hata baada ya kuu graduate from college….Ni sawa tuu ….na ni za color pink…. Nù wega tuu!!” said Sammy Kamenya.

“Handcarts, HANDCARTS! Aki @EstherPassaris You have the capacity to do better than this! So Ma-youth waendelee kutumia nguvu na Technology inamwagika from the University students Wooooiii! I wonder what policies need to be made to help elected leaders to focus on 25 years from now,” Dan Atundo.

Nairobi Liquor Control and Licensing Board  has stopped the issuance  of all new liquor licences in Umoja Estate Embakasi West sub-county, saying the area has been flooded with  bars and wines and spirits outlets.

According to Benjamin Omondi in charge of the Enforcement at the board, the move is geared to regulate the consumption liquor in the area and also mushrooming of illegal outlets.

‘’This is true we have stopped the issuance of new  liquor licenses  in Umoja we are aiming at regulating effectively  those that we have, the number is high as we speak and we don’t need more.’’ He said.

In yesterdays’ operation at Umoja One and  Umoja Three, 18 people were arrested bars closed.

The 18 were today charged  at Cityhall Court with different offences including opening bars past and before required time, operation without liquor licence among others counts.

‘’I arrested people in Umoja weekly, level of compliance in this area is still wanting ,but we shall not stop from taking action against those that are violating  liquor acts.’’  Omondi reiterated.

Meanwhile liquor boss Kennedy Odhiambo says the weekly operations in Umoja will continue until the area is fully controlled.

Another notorious wines and spirits out-let Wallys Q in Chokaa area Embakasi East was this week shut down following complains by residents.

They say the outlet was in an open residence and also acted as thieves ‘holding zone’. In a letter seen by Ghetto Radio News the resident says six people have been killed just next to the outlet a major indicator that it turned the area into crime palace.

Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko has said his administration will purchase additional land to be used as a cemetery for Muslim faithfuls.

The county government has identified a piece of land beside the Lang’ata cemetery to help the Muslim community inter their departed loved ones.

Burial is a sacred event for Muslims, a sign of last respect and a moment of prayer for the departed soul is held.

Sonko said Lang’ata cemetery which is the only public cemetery in Nairobi is now almost full.

“We have got land beside the Lang’ata cemetery but we will have to wait for the National Land Commission to be reconstituted so they can guide us on the buying process,” said Sonko.

He spoke on Thursday evening when he joined worshippers at Jamia Mosque in prayer and in breaking their fast.

President Uhuru and Yemeni Prime Minister Moin Abdulmalik also attended the prayers and breaking of the fast at the mosque.
